About Sealed Boxes

Advantages:

  • Small enclosure volumes = space savings.

  • Shallow (12 dB/Octave) roll off on low end.

  • Great power handling at extreme low frequencies.

  • Easy to design and construct

  • Forgiving of errors in box design and construction.

Disadvantages

  • For small box and high power, magnet structure cooling is not ideal.

  • Not as efficient as ported boxes.

  • Increased distortion in upper bass over ported boxes.

Credence sealed box subwoofers have been designed to minimize the usual disadvantages of sealed enclosures and provide rich full bass in a small amount of space.
