CS186DV Performance curve

This is a great system for car or home, particularly high power Home Theater.  The 6 ohm per side impedance will work well with almost any home amp, and the dual configuration allows for many useful set-ups in car or home usage.  It will definitely do some “block busting” in either   environment!  Clean, smooth, unbelievably powerful low bass…  All still in a very compact package for this kind of capability.  The port will need to be external, mostly external, or a clever part of the enclosure.  Keep in mind it can add over a cubic foot to your enclosure, if you build it “in”.  We recommend an 8” I.D. x 48” long port, especially for home use (50.26 sq. inches cross-section, and with that length, that’s quite a port!)  For car usage, you will get a little more air noise with a 7” I.D. x 35 3/5” long port (38.5 sq. in.).  However, you can probably get away with this in many car setups.  Either way be sure to allow for the port in your box volume calculations, and please see the 1.5 cu. ft. box for more port cross-section details. Finally, for full power handling, use a steep HP filter @ 22 Hz.
